1.Palm kernel Cleaning: Cleaning is a series of operation to remove impurities in oil seeds.It is used for removing the iron impurities, stone, fiber and others. These impurities are bad for palm kernel oil extraction machines, especially for the palm kernel expeller.

2.Palm kernel crushing: Because the palm kernel is hard and big size, it is required to crash to smaller and even pieces.

3.Palm kernel and nuts shell separation. Both dry and wet separations are available. Wet separation is mostly used in palm kernel separating machine, on basis of difference of relative density of palm kernel and shell.

4.Palm kernel drying: Fresh kernel contains 20% moisture. While controling moisture drops below 7% by palm kernel drying machine, palm kernel has no mildew during transportation and storage.

5.Cooking section: It is used for heating and cooking the crashing materials, to make is suitable for palm oil mill plant , doing like this can help final user get the maximum oil and good quality cakes.

Details of small scale peanut oil refinery plant:
Deacidification: Add some certain quantity of alkali to neutralize the free fatty acids. During this process, some soapstock will be produced.The soapstock will be separated from the oil after using the centrifugal machine.

Degumming: The purpose of degumming is to remove the phospholipid, sugar, protein, trace mental, and some other impurities, which have bad effect on the stability of the oil. First, the oil should be heated to 90to105°C, then put some phosphoric into it and stir. It mainly transfer the phospholipid to that can be compatible with water. Then add some salt water to gather the impurities, which subside to the bottom and be discharged.

Decolorization: Mix the oil with activated clay in the oil soil mixing tank, and 1 ton oil needs 5kg clay. Then stir it 10 minutes at 10°C. Next, pump the mixed oil into the decolorization tower. It use steam to heat the mixed oil at 100°C, and the process lasts 30-40 minutes.

Deodorization: The main purpose of deordorization tower is to remove fatty acid and some odor material. The principle of the deordorization is to use the high temperature and vacuum to remove the odor. The fatty acid and odor will be stalled in the storage tank.

Dewaxing: Dewaxing can improve oil palatability,so it plays an importan role to the quality of finished oil.At the same time,dewaxing can improve oi transparency and brightness.It is necessary to dewax for some oils such as maize oil,rice bran oil,sunflower oil and cottonseed oil.At present , wintering method is very popular to deawxing.The crystallizing rate crystallizing temperature, maturing time vary with oil features.

Palm fruit oil making process

1. Raw materials storage section: 

Fresh palm fruit bunch must be first weighed by weighbridge, then unloaded from trucks to the discharch door and stored.

2. Sterilizing section:

Fresh palm fruit bunch are airtight sterilized in sterilizer. The purposeto destroy lipase in the flesh palm fruit and avoid the content of FFA in oil further increase;

3. Threshing section:

The purpose of threshing is to separate the oil palm fruit from the fruit bunch by strong vibration. The threshing equipment is revolving drum thresher.

4.Pressing section:

Oil palm fruit first carry out cooking before pressed, fruit sterilized must be re-heating for the soft pulp, and damage pulp cell structure. Then enter into continuous screw press for pressing. 

5.Clarification section: 

First machine pressed crude oil is diluted by water washing. Through settlement and filtration,the fiber material will be removed from the oil. And then carrying out continuous settlement, crude oil is divided into two parts: oil and sediment.

6.Kernel recovery section:

Separating column system
Through separating column system, palm kernel will be separated from the nut shell. Then use the press machine that is the same as palm oil press machine to produce palm kernel oil.

What is the main differences between oil press and oil extraction line?

There are two methods to making crude soybean oil, oil press line and oil extraction line. After refining, edible refined soybean oil can be produced. But do you know the difference between pressed soybean oil and solvent extracted oil?

1. Different processing technology

The processing technology of pressed oil is "physical pressing", while the processing technology of the solvent extracted oil is "chemical extracting”.

In expeller pressing line, there is no solvent (chemical) residues in oil so that pressed oil is more pure , higher in natural colors and flavors. Physical pressing has higher requirements on raw materials. After impurity, stone removing, crushing and cooking, oil plants are sent into the screw oil press for oil extraction.

In extraction line, oil can be taken out of the oil seed by a washed or purged with a solvent (also known as a petroleum distillate) such as hexane, to release the fat in the seed. The most important thing is to remove that solvent from the oil through heat in a sealed chamber.

Solvent expelling gets 97-99% of the oil out of the seed. It is the most efficient way to get all the oil from the canola seeds. That is one of the reasons that it is the cheapest canola option on the market.

2. Different nutrients
The pressed soybean oil is good in color, aroma and taste and retains various nutrients. While the solvent extracted oil is colorless and tasteless. Most of the nutrients are destroyed after processing.

3. Different requirements on materials
"Pressed soybean oil" is made by pure physical pressing method, retaining the original flavor of soybeans. Thus, there are strict requirements with soybeans, which should be fresh and with low acid value and peroxide value, so the price is relatively higher. Meanwhile, since the residual oil content in soybean cake is higher, the oil yield of pressing is comparatively low. As a result, the pressed soybean oil price is higher.

Sunflower oil processing machine

Process of sunflower oil making machine

1. Sunflower oil pre-press process

Sunflower→ Magnetic seperating( Metal impurities)→ cleaning→ husking→ flaking roll→ Cooking→ pressing workshop
First, use magnetic separator, de-stonner and vibrate cleaning sieve to remove metals, small stones, impurities from sunflower raw seeds.
Second, use husking machine to remove husks, separating screen to separate husk and sunflower kernel , here separating screen must not separate completely, or it will be too slippery for oil pre- press.
Third, cooking sunflower seeds are ready for oil pre-press.
Fourth, pre-presse sunflower seeds. Here only pre-press part of sunflower oil, oil residue inside cake (about 12-16%) will be extracted in oil extraction process. After pre-pressed, the crude sunflower oil will be delivered directly to sunflower oil refining, and pressed cake to oil extraction.

2. Sunflower oil extraction process

Crude sunflower oil→ degumming→ deacidification→ decolorization→ deodorization→ refined sunflower oil.

First, use solvent to extract oil from sunflower oil cake inside oil extractor, and the final products are mixed oil and wet meal.
Second, the mixed oil will pass through two evaporators to make solvent inside transform into gas , and solvent will be recovered through condensers and reused. These two evaporators are not with same size , the first evaporator is bigger than the second one because there are more solvent inside mixed oil in the beginning . After evaporating, the oil will be pump into the stripping tower. Finally, we will get crude sunflower oil ready for oil refining.
Third, the wet meal will be delivered to desolventizer to dry and be separated with solvent. The dry meal will be packaged for sale as animal feed, in which oil residue inside meal is less than 1% .

3. Sunflower oil refining process

First, hydrated degumming, mainly is to remove phosphatide inside crude sunflower oil in order to reduce oil loss and improve quality of oil .
Second, alkali refining, using alkali to neutralize free fatty acid with by-product of soapstock, which is used for making soap.
Third, decoloration using bleaching clay to absorb darker colorant inside crude oil.
Fourth, deodorization is using high temperature to remove the impurities with bad smell .
Fifth, dewaxing is using low temperature to freeze wax inside refined oil and then separate wax with vibrating screen.
