How to obtain bleaching palm oil? What process do we need?

We all know that if we want to get palm oil, we need to conduct several steps of sterilizing, threshing, pressing, filtering and drying. But at this time, the palm oil we obtained is red crude oil. If we want to get bleaching palm oil, we need to refine crude palm oil.

Generally speaking, bleaching is a part of palm oil refining. Only after refining, we will get odourless, yellow and easy to preserve palm oil. Refining requires the following steps.


1. Degumming: We generally have two methods: hydrating degumming and dry degumming. Because palm oil has less gum, we usually use dry degumming. Dry degumming is to add phosphoric acid, stir well and let it react with the gum in crude palm oil, and then discharge the gum.

2. Deacidification: Deacidification can remove free fatty acids in palm oil. We generally use sodium hydroxide or high-temperature steam for deacidification. The deacidified oil tastes better, and the preservation.

3. Bleaching: Bleaching is to turn red crude palm oil into yellow. To get bleaching oil, we need to add white clay to absorb the pigments and impurities in the palm oil. Then, the white clay is separated by a leaf filter.

4. Deodorization: Deodorization can remove the peculiar smell in the oil, improve the smoke point of the oil, and improve the flavor of the palm oil. Generally, we inlet high-temperature steam into the palm oil, and use the method of distillation to volatilize the smelly substances in the palm oil.

What are the processes in edible oil refinery plant?

 Edible oil refining processes in edible oil refinery plant are to refine the crude cooking oil, get rid of impurities. And then get the high quality edible oil. The common refining processes are degumming, deacidification, decolorization and deodorization. Some oilseeds need dewaxing or fractionation. Now, let’s discuss it together.

Processes:
Degumming and deacidification processes:
Degumming is the first and basic step in the crude oil refinery plant, degumming process aims to removing the gum impurities in the crude oil to make it suitable for further refinery process, hydration degumming and special acid degumming are the two main methods. Water-degumming is suitable for most oilseeds. While acid-degumming is often used for palm oil. At the same time, deacidification is carried out. Chemical deacidification is often used, that is, adding alkali liquor into crude oil to neutralize with free fatty acids, so as to achieve the effect of deacidification. At the end, the soaps got from reactions are separated from the oil.

Decolorization
Decolorization, also called bleaching, is to remove color pigments contained in Neutralized Oil. At present, the most widely used method is adsorption, that is, the clay with strong adsorption capacity is added into the oil, and the pigment and other impurities in the oil are removed by adsorption under heating. After lowering the bleached oil temperature, pump the oil and clay mixture into vibrating filter to remove the waste clay, and the decolorization process is finished.

Deodorization
Generally speaking, deodorization process is the final stage in edible oil refining process. The decolorized oil is subjected to steam distillation under condition of high temperature and vacuum to remove bad smell, free fatty acids and other undesired minor components.

Generally, many kinds of oils in edible oil refinery plant have been refined after the above four processes. But some oils need dewaxing and separation because of their own particularity. Now, lets move on to dewaxing and fractionation.

Dewaxing:
Sunflower seed oil, corn germ oil, rice bran oil, cottonseed oil  need dewaxing to change quality and improve flavor. The existence of wax not only affects the transparency and taste of oil, but also affects the health of human body. Dewaxing is a process of separating high melting point wax and high melting point solid grease from oil by cooling and crystallization, and then removing them by filtration or centrifugal separation.

How to purify sunflower cooking oil? What machines are needed?

 

The crude sunflower cooking oil contains some impurities, which will affect the product quality, storage time, and market value. Therefore, these impurities must be removed to purify sunflower cooking oil. The sunflower cooking oil purification process mainly includes five steps: degumming, deacidification, decolorization, deordorization, dewaxing.

1.Degumming: colloidal impurity will affect the stability of sunflower cooking oil and it can be removed by adding a certain amount phosphoric acid solution, which can make the colloidal impurity absorb water for cohesion.

2.Deacidification: it is used to remove the free fatty acid in the sunflower cooking oil.There are chemical way and physical way to choose from. Chemical deacidification is carried out by adding lye; physical deacidification is carried out by pumped into high-temperature water vapor.

3.Decolorization: In this section, white clay is usually added to sunflower cooking oil and the adsorption of white clay will remove the pigment in the oil.

4.Deordorization: After bumping high temperature water vapor, odor substances can be removed by virtue of volatility difference, so as to improve the quality and flavor of sunflower cooking oil.

5.Dewaxing: The wax in sunflower cooking oil affects the flavor and taste of the oil, so it requires dewaxing operation. At present, the commonly used dewaxing method is freezing crystallization method.
